Our 2008 Summer contest has come to an end, and it is time to announce the winners! For the original contest annoucement and rules you can click here. It was a close call picking the photo winner, but the grand prize Ace Frehley "SpaceMan" figure donated by Sideshow Collectibles will be awarded to Jessica from California for her fantastic KISS photo featuring Zira and Cornelius from Planet of the Apes. Interestingly enough, this was not our only Zira and Cornelius entry, but we gave the slight edge on composition, lighting and overall image quality to Jennifer. I feel that this photo really captures the idea which we were going for with the contest. The tilt of the head, the tenderly placed hand, and the framing of the characters combine to create a genuinely romantic moment between these two plastic monkey dolls! Great Job Jessica, and Congratulations!
In addition to the grand prize figure, two bonus prizes were guaranteed from my private stock for first runner up photo, and a raffle drawing open to newsletter subscribers who accessed their Collection Manager accounts during the contest duration.
The available prizes were ultra limited exclusive items produced by Gentle Giant, including the Luna Lovegood Mini Bust (SDCC 2007 - 1000 pieces), Glorfindel Mini Bust (SDCC 2007 - 500 pieces), and the Princess Leia and R2-D2 Black and White Animated Maquette (Blister/Website - 500 pieces).
In honor of the other fantastic submissions I decided ultimately to award dual runner up status in the photo contest, and give away all three items.
For his humorous and bizzare moment from the private lives of R. Lee Ermey and Jabba the Hutt, Brant from Utah will receive the Glorfindel Bust from Lord of the Rings.
For another excellent rendition of Zira and Cornelius, Mark from West Virginia takes the Luna Lovegood Bust from Harry Potter.
Finally, we had nearly 40 eligible participants in the raffle drawing, and the lucky winner is Dan from North Carolina, who will take the Black and White Leia and R2-D2 Animated Maquette.
